What does a printer noise specification mean?

Sound pressure level describes the level at a stated position; sound power level describes acoustic output from the source. They are not interchangeable. Check the measurement standard, distance, print mode, speed and whether the figure covers printing, scanning, ready or sleep.

Room placement can matter more than a small specification difference
